The changes imposing new conditions for the sale and purchase of agricultural
land outside built-up areas are part of a larger European context to protect
agricultural land, similar provisions have been introduced in a significant
number of countries across the EU. Nevertheless, these amendments were not
received well by many industries, as they will make very difficult and
cumbersome any transactions in respect of agricultural land outside of built-up
areas.
