CONVERTING THE OPPORTUNITY INTO ACTION26

April 2022 • 9:00 -14:00

Radisson Blu Hotel Bucharest

The European Commission has given a positive assessment to Romania’s recovery and resilience plan (PNRR) in September 2021. Hence, Romania will be assigned over 29 billion Euro out of the total Recovery and Resilience Facility (RRF) funds of 672,5 billion Euro. However, the PNRR will feature investments totalling over 40 billion Euro, to provide a menu of useful possible projects and challenging reforms, which could be co-financed by national funds if they prove their viability and can be implemented by 2026.

In this context, The Diplomat-Bucharest will organize on April 26, 2022 an event exclusively focused on PNNR, when leading representatives of central and local authorities, Governmental officialities, private companies and economy stakeholders are invited to engage into an open dialogue about the opportunities and challenges of capitalizing on the great opportunity of PNNR.

The financing provided by the Recovery and Resilience Facility – at the heart of NextGenerationEU – will support the implementation by 2026 of crucial investment and reform measures put forward by Romania to emerge stronger from the health, social and political turmoil of 2021.

11:20- 13:00   Panel II: THE ENERGY & WASTE MANAGEMENT APPROACH

THE ENERGY TRANSITION: TACKLING CHALLENGES AND PRIORITIES

2022 brings the opportunity for  a connected climate control market. Also, most manufacturers of heating systems are making their own controls and actively pushing for them. As well, some governments are trying to accelerate this market and customer awareness is just better than ever. The world is now shifting towards a fully integrated technology approach and it is fundamentally reconsidering its energy resource base.

  • Energy models s enabled by PNRR
  • Opportunities for the development of local facilities and green energy projects
  • Tackling the energy crisis – the dramatic increases in gas price and electricity prices
  • Challenges and priorities of the energy sector in 2022 and PNRR’s implications

WASTE MANAGEMENT : THE NEED FOR A NEW APPROACH AND BETTER APPLICATION

The modern life and the increase of consumption at any given layer of a society results in such an amount of waste that, at some point, grows into a life-threatening issue. The entire waste must be managed, that’s a fact. The aspects that are wrapped into the concept of management are far more complicated and that is why, in Romania, the waste management and the sustainable recycling matter are far from being a success.

  • Easy and accessible waste management models in Romania
  • Recycling methods vs. traditional waste disposal
  • PNRR’s opportunities in tackling the waste management segment in Romania
  • Converting waste to energy (WTE models)
  • Regulations and authorities’ commitment to tackling the matter of waste management
